History è

The land of Brighton has been inhabited since 3000 BC, but it wasn't until the arrival of the Saxons who took control of much of southern England by the 6th century that foundations for the city were laid. It suffered many threatening catastrophes such as the French pillage in 1514 and violent storms in the early 1700s. However, Brighton managed to recover every time after each disaster. The city started to become popular in the mid-18th century as a seaside resort with endorsement from George, the Prince of Wales, and the railway connection between Brighton and London which opened in 1841 further increased its popularity. Brighton had its ups and downs after WWII, but because of its balmy climate, pleasant atmosphere and nearness to London, the city continues to develop and still remains one of the most popular holiday spots today. It was given a city status in 2001 as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Geography & Climate è

Brighton is situated on the South Coast of England, about 88 km from London. It faces Beachy Head to the east and Worthing Point to the west. Because of its well-connection with the capital city, it is often described as "London-by-the-sea". As Brighton's location is on the southern coast, springs tend to come earlier than the rest of the country, with warmer still summer and pleasantly mild winters which make it a busy visitor destination all year round.
