Getting there
  • Air
Gatwick airport is the most convenient airport since it has a railway station halfway between London and Brighton. Simply take the train direct from Gatwick to Brighton Railway Station. If you arrive at Heathrow, take the Tube (Piccadilly Line) to Green Park and the Victoria Line to Victoria Station, then take the train to Brighton.  The journey time from Gatwick to Brighton is 30 minutes whereas from Heathrow to Brighton is 90 minutes.

  • Train
Brighton is easiest to reach from London Victoria Station (London Waterloo and Clapham Junction are other possibilities).  Take the train into Brighton station, which is around ten minutes walk from the Brighton Unitarian Church. It also receives many services daily from other major cities both within the UK and from abroad.  National Rail operates trains within the UK whereas trains from other European countries are operated by Eurostar.

  • Bus
There are daily express coaches from London Victoria Coach Station (not to be confused with the Victoria Train Station) to Brighton every 2 hours.

  • Car
Brighton is 45 minutes from the M25 London orbital motorway.  From the M25 ringroad take the M23 towards Gatwick and Brighton, This will lead you all the way to the outskirts of Brighton.  If you come from other cities in the east or west, take the coastal route A27.

Getting around

By foot is the best way to explore Brighton as the city is very compact and most places are within walking distance.  The rail station is only 10 minutes away from the city center and the sea is a stone's throw from the main attractions.  Buses are frequent and offer good value.  A 1-day ticket is also available.  Plenty of taxi ranks can be found in the city center especially in East Street, Queen's Square and Hove Town Hall.
